SAINTS were denied victory after coming from behind twice in todays encounter at Palmerston.

Queen of the south stomed ahead with a two goal lead. Barry Wilson was first to score early in the half. After the break Stephen Dobbie hit the back of the net to increase the homesides fortunes to a two goal lead.

Saints recovered shortly after when Kevin Rutiewicz netted for the visitors. On the 64th minute, Chris Millar came to the rescue and evened the scores.

It was not long before Queens took the lead again when Paul Burns netted for the home side however the points were rescued for saints with Derek Homes scoring late on for the equaliser. Saints continue to head for the title.

Byrne hoping to kick start career.

RICHIE BYRNE hopes to rebuild his career after joining Saints.

The Irish defender agreed to an emergency one month deal has not played a competitive game since october.

It was hoped he could kick start his career after signing with Inverness Caley but since Terry Butcher took over he has been unable to get a game.

Byrne has had impressive times at Aberdeen and Dunfermline. He insists he is ready to take up the challenge if McInnes wants to include him in the team at Queen of the South tomorrow.

Byrne who’s last competitive games was for Oldham in October is confident of making an impact should he be given a start.
