Yet “another PR shambles” say fans as Rangers game cancelled!
February 20, 2010 by admin
Angry fans have been let down yet again by the announcement that today’s home game against league leaders Rangers has been cancelled due to a frozen pitch. The game was due to be televised live on Sky but the referee cancelled at approximately 11.45 this morning.
No statement from the club has been forthcoming but it is believed that the under soil heating system has failed again, leaving the pitch frozen.
The referee was apparently seen talking on Sky sports earlier about the pitch – (ironically) in front of an advertising board displaying the words “Easy heat”.
This is the second time in as many weeks that a match has been cancelled due to a frozen pitch – the first time being due to an apparent fault in the undersoil heating.
The cancellation of todays game pours incredible embarrassment on the club and fans all over have quick to express their anger at the club’s latest cancellation.
“This could not have came at a worse time” said one saints fan “The club have let us down yet again It was only a few weeks ago we (Saints fans) were criticising Falkirk for the same thing and now we,ve done it twice in the last few weeks. What a shambles. I wouldn’t be surprised if they (Saints) get a huge fine and Sky don’t come back to show any more games here”.
David MacKay, a fan who travelled from Dornoch to watch the match commented “I’ve a good mind to claim expenses from the club for wasting my time travelling all the way from Inverness. It’s ridiculous and it’s no wonder that their attendences are so bad.”
Aside from the embarrassment the cancellation has caused the club, the momentum the players had hoped to carry over from the 5-1 win againts hibs in midweek must surely affected.
The game is apparently rescheduled for this coming Wednesday
