| Dundee United beat Saints 3-2 at McDiarmid Park on Saturday afternoon.
With Stuart McCluskey out injured, David McClune made the starting line-up in right midfield as Saints went with three across the back in the shape of Weir, Dods and Forsyth. Lovenkkrands and Hartley once again aided Momo Sylla up front.
Saints wasted no time setting out their stall for the afternoon and they were 1-0 ahead in just the sixth minute when David McLune cut in from the right wing to send a curling left foot shot high past Gallacher into the net. Dundee Utd had a great chance to equalise when Dods was judged to have tripped Charlie Miller, and referee Freeland awarded United the penalty. Miller himself stepped up to take the kick but missed, putting it wide of Main’s right hand post. Saints then took the lead just before half time when Momo Sylla released Hartley on the right who sent a low shot past Gallacher to make it 2-0 to Saints at half time.
Saints were reduced to ten men at the start of the second half when Hartley was sent off for his second bookable offence and from then on Saints had their backs against the wall. McCunnie, Buchan and Hannah all came close to scoring as United pushed forward in numbers and eventually the pressure paid off when Miller scored with a diving header past Alan Main who missed the cross. Lilley had two good chances to make the score level before Easton equalised for United with a header with ten minutes left. Lilley then scored the winner for United in 90 minutes from close range.
