| Saints recovered from losing a goal in the opening two minutes of this match to bounce back and grab a deserved equaliser thanks to a Darren Jackson penalty. Paul Kane, Ross Forsyth and Paddy Connolly dropped out of the side which drew against Aberdeen a fortnight ago and into the team came John Paul McBride, Tommy Lovenkrands and Keigan Parker.
The home side had the ball in the net in the first minute but had it disallowed for offside. However they were not to be denied and when Caballero got the better of Jim Weir on the left, he saw his cross turned into the net by Steven Milne. Keigan Parker rattled the side netting in the 20th minute and Nick Dasovic nearly got a rare goal ten minutes later when he saw his spectacular effort from 30 yards rattle the crossbar.
There was little to choose between the sides for long spells and Saints got a deserved equaliser in the 73rd minute when Jackson netted a spot kick after sub Peter MacDonald was felled by Smith's trailing leg in the box. Notable team changes saw Stuart McCluskey intorduced for the injured Jim Weir at half-time and a Premier debut late in the game for Rachid Djebaili.
A second successive draw for Saints who remain one point adrift of Motherwell at the foot of the table.
