Kevin Rutkiewicz

Joined Aberdeen in March 1998 from Larkhall Thistle and spent six seasons at Pittodrie, mainly on a diet of reserve/under 21 football.

Made his league debut when he came off the bench in a 2-0 defeat away to Hibs in November 1999 and scored his first senior goal against Hearts in a 3-2 defeat at Pittodrie the following season.

2002/2003 saw him get his first real run in the team and he wore the number three jersey in the vast majority of the Donsí games between October and February of that season. By the time he left Pittodrie he had played over 50 first team matches.

Kevin was John Connolly's first signing for Saints in the summer of 2004 but made a couple of costly errors early in his Saints career which led to a place on the bench for a couple of matches but he bounced back strongly and has won over Saints fans with his displays.

Scored his first goal for Saints in the 3-0 Bell's Cup win over QOS in August 2004 and followed that up with a goal against Falkirk in the semi-final of that competition.

In contrast, he was red carded against Falkirk in the November and subsequently lost his place in the team to Sean Webb and he was in and out of the side for the remainder of the 04/05 season.

Kevin wasn't in the preferred XI at the start of the 05/06 season but did well when called upon including scoring against Partick Thistle in a Bell's Cup tie at Firhill and he soon became a regular at the back where he was oustanding for much of the season and that sort of form saw him sign a new contract for 2006/07.

Kevin started the 06/07 campaign in similarly impressive style but an ankle injury picked up in the first away match of the season at Dumfries eventually necesitated investigative surgery and the outcome was not good - Kevin required significant reconstructive work on his ankle in a September operation and missed the remainder of the 2006/2007 season.

Under contract for 07/08, Kevin worked throughout the summer to ensure he was early in the campaign although he perhaps didn't envisage being involved just as early as the second game of the season. However, with captain Kevin James injured and Steven Anderson suspended, Kevin stepped into the fray against Stirling Albion and celebrated his return with a second half headed equaliser and he has firmly put his injury problems behind to play a signficant part in the 07/08 campaign.
